I am not too much into instrumental Metal usually because to me the voice is the decisive factor whether a Metal album is good or bad. However, in the case of The Great Cold there is absolutely nothing I miss. With their ever changing melodies and tempi the band keeps you captivated from start to finish, no questions asked. These guys do a phenomenal job, using everything at hand, in developing atmosphere that is raw, expressive, dynamic and uncompromising. I think that lends a kind of living quality to their songs; they're continuously moving, whether progressing or receding. I find it as impressive as it is engaging.
