Titans Lament

bcb723 Pure dark sludge psychedelic doom. These songs slowly morph out down unexpected paths. But the shouted vocals remind me somewhat of Isis/Sumac in-their-prime jams. Sometimes the guitar just holds a slow riff pattern for minutes, building up the tension. Other times they build then fade away. I was completely bought in after only a few minutes. It is all pretty brilliant for some guys a few miles down I-70 from me. Finally, that album cover is in a class all alone. Ace shit. Favorite track: Son of the Sea.

YomaBarr If The Osedax had meant to create a monster here they succeeded in full, but what do you expect from a band naming themselves after a worm that makes its home in dead bones.
Rarely can you hear an album so extremely well thought up and written. Not a chord, not a beat (and drums here are a separate story) without a purpose or out of place.
Genre-wise it's generally blackened doom with a monstrous sludgey riff here and there and haunted corish vocals, i.e. a mongrel, and I love such! Trippy too.

about

Formed in 2006 on the fringes of Washington DC, The Osedax is a three-piece band from Virginia that combines elements of doom and various forms of metal to create a colossus that has every intention of crushing everything in its path. From the towering roars of the vocals and guitar to the thundering resonance of the drums and bass, the band crafts a tale of the crippling sorrow and despair that plagues this world.
