The Goon I have no idea what most of this music is about, except for what I can get the French girl who works at my gym to translate for me. But it doesn't matter because music is a universal language. This musical language is raw emotion alternating between quite and crushing. Good stuff.

Majbritt Levinsen Milanku plays something I would describe as raw and beautiful post-rock with great ambiance and melancholy. The raw screamed vocal stands strong together with the rough but beautiful music. To pick a favourite track from the album has proven difficult. There is a hair raising moment in ‘L’Inclination’, where the guitar takes you out to a void where only the music exists, but even the opening track ‘La Chute’ with the female spoken word intro is great, and then there is ‘Hypomanie’… Favorite track: L'Inclination.

Formed in Quebec during the fall of 2006, Milanku is a five-piece band from Montreal that combines elements of hardcore and post-rock to create a captivating dynamic throughout their music that is extremely raw, yet oddly comfortable. The band orchestrates genuine moments of aggression and melancholy in order to question where mankind is headed and capture the true essence of human struggle in modern society.

This review is long overdue. This album right here is the album that finally pulled me out of the "commercial" music world and into the world of the raw, experimental, and sincere. An amalgamation of everything I love about post-metal and hardcore taken to a mathy, heavy, ambient extreme. brineryte
